LOCTITE® 603 - Bottle 12.0/case

Features and Benefits

Retaining compound designed for bonding cylindrical fitting parts, such as bearings, bushings, and shafts. Suitable for use where consistently clean surfaces can't be assured, such as parts lightly coated with cutting fluids or rust preventative oils.
LOCTITE® 603 is a high-strength retaining compound. Designed for the bonding of cylindrical fitting parts, especially for sintered bearings and also where consistently clean surfaces cannot be assured. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage due to shock and vibration. It has a high oil tolerance.
  • High-strength retaining compound
  • Especially suitable for sintered bearings
  • High oil tolerance

How to

Step by Step Guide

1. Preparation - Cleaning

Use LOCTITE® 7200 for easier removal of residues in case of old retaining adhesive. It is recommended to use LOCTITE® 7063 to degrease and clean surfaces prior to applying the adhesive. For gaps larger than 0.5mm or worn out shafts, bearing seats or keyways, use LOCTITE® metal-filled compounds.

2. Preparation - Activation

If cure speed is too slow due to passive metals or low temperature (below 5°C), use activator LOCTITE® 7240 or LOCTITE® 7649 (see cure speed vs activator graph in the TDS).

3. Application - For Slip Fitted Assemblies

Apply adhesive around the leading edge of the male component and the inside of the female component and use a rotating motion during assembly to ensure good coverage.

4. Application - For Press Fitted Assemblies

Apply adhesive thoroughly to both bond surfaces and assemble at high press on rates.

5. Application - For Shrink Fitted Assemblies

Apply the adhesive onto the shaft; heat the collar to create enough clearance for free assembly.

6. Equipment

For manual assembly of adhesive, the use of a peristaltic hand pump is recommended to ensure a consistent application volume. For semi-automatic or fully-automated dispensing options, contact our technical service team for advice.

7. Disassembly

Apply localised heat to approximately 250°C; disassemble while hot. For corroded or seized parts, use LOCTITE® LB 8040 Freeze and Release.
