LOCTITE® 545

Features and Benefits

Designed for locking and sealing metal pipes and fittings, this product is specially formulated to offer high lubricity for easy assembly and removal.
For fine threaded fittings, choose LOCTITE® 545. This thread sealant is perfect for small fittings in general, especially as used in hydraulic and pneumatic installations. The medium-viscosity product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration when cured. It's specially formulated to offer lubricity for the easy assembly of hydraulic and pneumatic fittings, and contains no fillers or particles that could contaminate system fluids, foul valves, or clog fine filters and screens.

How to

Step by Step Guide

1. Preparation

Cleaning - It is recommended to use LOCTITE® SF 7063 or LOCTITE SF 7070 Cleaner & Degreaser to degrease and clean surfaces prior to applying adhesive. Activation - If cure speed is too slow due to passive metals (stainless steel, aluminum and plated metals) or low temperatures (below 5°C), use LOCTITE® SF 7649 activator. Allow to dry.

2. Application

Starting one to two threads from leading edge of pipe, apply a 360° bead to cover three thread roots. For bigger threads, apply both on male and female threads. (Recommended dispensing equipment: LOCTITE® Pro Pump Handheld Dispenser (50ml/250ml) or LOCTITE® Peristaltic Hand Pump.

3. Assembly

Assemble fittings using wrench tightening in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations.

4. Disassembly

Disassemble with standard hand tools. If not possible, apply localized heat to approximately 260°C/500°F and disassemble while hot.
