LOCTITE® 431 - Bottle 10.0/case

Known as Loctite 431 Prism Instant Adhesive

Features and Benefits

This instant adhesive is ideal for difficult-to-bond materials such as porous and acidic materials. Also used in the assembly of disposable medical devices.
LOCTITE® 431 is a medium viscosity (medical device grade) instant adhesive designed especially for the fast bonding of plastics and rubbers. Using primer LOCTITE® SF 7701, the assembly of difficult-to-bond materials (PP, PE, PTFE) is possible. It has a fixture time of 15 seconds and is well suited for porous and/or acidic surfaces. LOCTITE 431 is tested to Henkel's ISO 10993 protocols for use in disposable medical devices.
  • ISO-10993 biocompatible
  • Assembles difficult-to-bond plastics when LOCTITE SF 7701 primer is used
  • Ideal for bonding small- to medium-size parts
  • Fixture time of 5-10 secs
  • Medium viscosity

How to

Step by Step Guide

1. Preparation - Cleaning

It is recommended to use the correct LOCTITE® cleaner for the surface to be bonded (such as LOCTITE® SF 7070) to degrease and clean surfaces prior to applying the adhesive.

2. Preparation - Priming

To improve adhesion on difficult to bond plastic surfaces, apply LOCTITE® SF 7701 to the bond area by brushing or dipping. Avoid applying excess primer. Allow the primer to dry.

3. Preparation - Activation

If cure speed is too slow, use activator LOCTITE® SF 713 (see cure speed vs activator graph in TDS). Apply activator to one bond surface by spray, brush or dipping (not primed surfaces). Allow the activator to dry.

4. Application

Apply adhesive onto one side/part.

5. Assembly

Assemble parts immediately. The parts should be accurately located as the short fixture time leaves little opportunity for adjustment. Bond should be held or clamped until the adhesive has fixtured.Hint: if necessary, excess product can be cured by activator LOCTITE® SF 713. Spray or drop activator onto excess product.
