There are many elastomeric joint sealant applications such as structural glazing, weatherproofing, insulating glass, white and black goods fabrication where each sealant joint requires unique durability functions to perform well through its life cycle. The use of elastomeric joints in bathrooms and kitchens is one of these. Here, anti-fungal durability is a primary requirement for the sealant. Premature fungus growth on it is a big problem for general users as well as for the inhabitants due to costly rework and poor sanitation.

Moreover, in industrial field, more and more customers are introducing 2-components products in their application process, thanks to the possibility to increase production speed.

The purpose of this study is to present the new 2-component silicone system with antifungal property named LOCTITE SI 5608.
