How to
Step by Step Guide
1. Preparation - Cleaning
Remove dirt, oil, grease etc with a suitable high pressure water cleaning system using LOCTITE SF 7840 cleaner/degreaser.
2. Preparation - Blasting
Blast all surfaces to be coated with a sharp edged angular grit to a depth of profile of 75 to 100 microns, and a degree of cleanliness of Near White Metal (SIS SA 2½ /SSPC-SP 10).
3. Preparation - Cleaning
After blasting, metal surfaces should be cleaned with a waterless LOCTITE® cleaner, e.g. LOCTITE SF 7365, SF 7063 or SF 7611 and allow the surface to dry before application of the product. Coat the surface before any oxidation or contamination takes place.
4. Preparation - Protection from Flash Rusting
To avoid flash rust, repairs should be made as soon as possible. Otherwise, apply a thin coat of LOCTITE SF 7515 to all surfaces and allow to react for 1 minute. After 1 minute, blow off and dry the surface completely with clean and dry compressed air.
5. Mixing the Material
Measure 4 parts resin to 1 parts hardener by volume or weight. Transfer measured quantities or entire kit onto a clean and dry mixing surface and mix together with a trowel until uniform in color. If mixing larger quantities, a spiral mixing blade attached to a high torque electric or pneumatic drill can be used. If resin and hardener temperatures are 15°C or below, preheat resin only to about 30°C but not to exceed 40°C.
6. Application
Apply fully mixed material to the prepared surface. Initially apply the material in a very thin layer to "wet" out the surface and avoid air entrapment. Build up to desired thickness (minimum 6 mm), avoid air entrapment. At 25°C the working time is 30 minutes, and functional cure time is 7 hours. Working and cure time depend on temperature and mass - the higher the temperature and the larger the mass, the faster the cure.
